Scary looking right? But I can promise you that going to see Dr. Andie Ibarra was the best choice for me before I left for Lubbock. Andie and I are both members of Dallas Girl Gang which honestly has been the best group of supportive women ever! I have always been interested in trying accupuncture however I have been so afraid to get out of my comfort zone and try it. Lets just say the experience was everything I did NOT expect!
Although it looks like it would hurt, believe it or not it didnt hurt at all. There were some points where the needle went in that were a little tighter and I could feel the pinch but honestly it was a painless process overall.
I asked Dr. Ibarra to send over a little bit of information about the process and history behind accupuncture. You can read her response below in pink
"Cosmetic Acupuncture is a healthy option for cosmetic improvements. It is the “true anti-aging medicine.” Though the procedure is not well known or publicized in the United States, it has been used for centuries in China by Emperors and the wealthy. Cosmetic Acupuncture is a relatively non-invasive procedure that brings about some amazing results that are more than just skin deep. It is the only cosmetic procedure that actually improves your health.
The obvious benefits include having softer, firmer skin, reduction of deeper wrinkles, possible elimination of finer wrinkles, and improvement in jowl lines. Although not visually as dramatic as a surgical procedure,Mei Zen Cosmetic Acupunctureactually has a much more dramatic overall effect and I have seen a number of very healthy “side effects” occur. Besides the obvious visual changes, patients have reported improved digestion, better quality sleep, reduction of hot flashes, elimination of mild depression and anxiety, improved energy, and an overall sense of well-being. Patients leave not only looking younger but feeling younger and healthier. I think that it is fair to say that this is the only cosmetic procedure that actually improves the health of the patientand that is why I am so passionate about what I do!
From a Western Medicine standpoint, Mei Zen Cosmetic Acupuncture works because the needling may cause micro-traumas in the skin to which the body can respond by increasing blood flow and the production of collagen and elastin for wound healing. The needling, which is done at the level of the dermis, may also stimulate neurotransmitter production. From the Chinese Medicine perspective, qi and blood are being brought to the face, qi is being lifted, and the body’s energetic systems are being put into balance. This is why the wonderful side effects occur. The procedure is very low risk because the needling is so superficial; occasionally bruising occurs.
The procedure is ten treatments that are scheduled twice a week for five weeks.
Treatments last about 60 minutes except the first one may last up to an hour and a half due to the intake procedure.
Dr. Ibarra has just launched her practice here in Dallas and honestly everyone needs to go visit her! I honestly was not as afraid for th accupuncture as I was the cupping! Cupping helps with muscle recovery. This was another thing I've always wanted to try but never had the guts to! When Dr. Ibarra asked me if I would want to try it I of course jumped right on in!
It looks way worse than It felt haha! it was crazy when she took the cups off of my back!
Andie is so amazing and passionate about what she is doing its hard not to mirror her energy! I would definetly go visit Andie again and have these services done on a regular basis. After I left I felt refreshed and my face felt nice and tight!
When I left Dallas Accupuncture I felt rejuvinated and refreshed- I highly reccomend stepping out of your comfort zone and trying somehting new - you never know! it might help you in your recovery process!
